I can design one for less than $500 and contain the construction cost. How abut a home that will stand-up to 150+mph winds at the same cost of a track home? Well, the FRC and GHRRC will do that very thing, and without a design professional running the cost off the map......The taxpayers and builders of this state pays through the nose for the codes, yet the design professional advocate they are the only ones with enough knowledge to design.....I don't think so! I have had to pay thousands to an engineer to seal my drawings without making a change to them.....I call this Legal Thievery.....<BR>
Really want to help the people???? Design in Safe Rooms, very simple to do and already designed and tested by FEMA......They will add under a grand if located in the rtight place within the structure......</FONT><FONT FACE="Times, Times New Roman"> <BR>

And this is why the code should not exempt residential construction from being designed by architect/engineers. You get people who are unfamiliar with, not current with, the codes. And doing the construction on top of it.<BR>

Homes. It’s where people live, sleep, and raise their children. Don’t you think that this type of construction deserves the same attention and protection as other structures in order to protect people?<BR>

How about we just call residences farm buildings and exempt them all together?<BR>

</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial">I have done my own drawings on a bunch of homes prior to the housing bust, and they were all designed by 1099 standards and language. I have not done one since the codes have changed. Can anyone help me with what the current design standard and necessary language that is required on the cover page of the drawings. The project I have coming up is residential and not on a barrier island, and I want to do Contractor sealed drawings.<BR>
