<b>Subject:</b> [Florida Code Talk] no permit question<o:p></o:p></span></p>
</div>

<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>During
a utility door inspection, our condo Board noticed that a unit owner’s air
handler had been changed and City of Clearwater records indicated that no
permit was pulled. The Board mailed a notice to the unit owner requesting
that they contact their AC contractor and have them pull a permit and request
an inspection. If the AC Company didn’t, the matter would be forwarded to
the City regarding unpermitted work.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing>Their AC Company told her that she (the unit owner) would
have to go to the courthouse to pull and pay for the permit. They also told
the elderly owner that they explained to her that the air handler wouldn’t
match the condensing unit so to save money they had to install the air handler
this way. She doesn’t recall that conversation.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing>She was a nervous wreck after her conversation with the
AC company and wants to know what to do. Once the Board forwards this to
the City of Clearwater, will she be responsible for the expense of the permit
and any equipment changes needed to pass the inspection? She is all alone
and trying to sell her unit so scared this will put a financial burden upon her
and doesn’t want to confront the AC company anymore. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNoSpacing>For safety, our Board frequently checks permitting due to
the volume of contractors working within the complex. This will probably
occur again due to the age of the AC units and the owners so would appreciate
some local inspector input.<o:p></o:p></p>
