Major Business and Actions

 

The Commission conducted a Rule Adoption Hearing on Rule 9B-72.130,
Product Approval to change the number of products allowed on one
application and adopted recommendations for legislative action to
include in its report to the 2010 Legislature. Technical Advisory
Committees reviewed Florida specific amendments that overlap changes to
the 2009 edition of the International Codes.

 

Next Meeting of the Commission:

            February 1, 2 & 3, 2010, Embassy Suites Hotel, Tampa,
Florida

Accessibility Code Waivers:   See the "Facilitator's Report" for waiver

1.	Marquis

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to the cold plunge pool in the spa area.

Action:  Application withdrawn by applicant.

 

2.	Miami Management, Inc.

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to the second floor of an office
building. 

Action:  Waiver approved, based on disproportionate cost. 

 

3.	Hialeah Race Park

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to all rows of seats in a race track
facility. 

Action:  Waiver approved, provided a barrier is installed to prevent
non-disabled patrons from standing in front of wheelchair users at the
seating area nearest the track. 

 

4.	ANF Group, Inc.

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to second floor offices.

Action:  Waiver approved, based on disproportionate cost. 

 

5.	Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue Station 

Issue:  Accessibility to toilet facilities used exclusively by
firefighters. 

Action:  Waiver denied, as no hardship was demonstrated. 

 

6.	East Manatee Fire Station.

Issue:  Accessibility to toilet facilities used exclusively by
firefighters. 

Action:  Waiver denied, as no hardship was demonstrated. 

 

7.	Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to all rows of seats in three tiered
auditoriums. 

Action:  Waiver approved, based on technical infeasibility. 

 

8.	The Pink House

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to second floor rooms and insufficient
door width.

Action:  Referred back to the Council for a recommendation.

 

9.	Adventist Health Systems Headquarters.

Issue:  Undetermined. 

Action:  Dismissed without prejudice. 

 

10.	Staples Fulfillment Center Warehouse Improvements

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to all levels in an office/warehouse. 

Action:  Waiver approved, based on it being unnecessary to access all
levels.

 

11.	Pestana Hotel and Resorts.

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to all floors of a hotel composed of
three separate buildings.

Action:  Waiver approved, based on technical infeasibility. 

 

12.	National Hotel Cabana Building.

Issue:  Interior dimensions of an existing elevator.

Action:  Waiver approved, provided one accessible guest room is provided
in the cabana building. 

 

13.	Latitude 30 Degrees.

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to all rows of seats in a movie theater.

Action:  Deferred for additional information. 

 

14.	Xixon Restaurant

Issue:  Undetermined.

Action:  Application dismissed without prejudice. 

 

15.	Pine Creek Sporting Club.

Issue:  Vertical accessibility to a tree house structure.
