In a message dated 8/5/2009 11:47:11 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, kuritzky at bellsouth.net writes: I have a client for whom I will add a small garage. The existing driveway is pavers on compact sand. Very stable. The client would like the interior of the new garage to have a ‘floor’ constructed of the same pavers, as an extension of the driveway. Can this be done without a concrete slab underneath the pavers inside the garage? Thank you. Eric In my opinion, as long as you form, steel, and pour a properly sized footing/ stem wall around the perimeter, you should be able to construct the garage floor using interlocking pavers over recommended (size) aggregate and clean compacted termite treated fill.
